Pleasure

Some seem to think that pleasure and the Christian life don’t mix. Is that true?

God’s Response

I decided there is nothing better than to enjoy food and drink and to find satisfaction in work. Then I realized that this pleasure is from the hand of God. Ecclesiastes 2:24

Oh, how delightful you are, my beloved; how pleasant for utter delight! Song of Songs 7:6

The father of godly children has cause for joy. What a pleasure it is to have wise children. Proverbs 23:24

God created a beautiful world for you to enjoy. He gave you food and drink to refresh you and meaningful work for you to do. He gave you a family in which to take pleasure. In fact, he has abundantly given you all things to enjoy. God is pleased when you take pleasure in the gifts he has given you. Enjoying the gifts God gives us shows him that we are grateful for his generosity and kindness.

God’s Challenge

Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it. We may receive it gladly, with thankful hearts. For we know it is made holy by the word of God and prayer. 1 Timothy 4:4-5
