Memories

What is the most effective way to deal with my hurtful past?

God’s Response

Joseph told them, “Don’t be afraid of me. Am I God, to judge and punish you? As far as I am concerned, God turned into good what you meant for evil.” Genesis 50:19-20

Jesus said, “Father, forgive these people, because they don’t know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34

When you dwell on the past, it is hard to forget it and move on. However, it is important to face it. Deal with the pain of the past in whatever constructive ways you need to—confession, repentance, counseling, forgiveness—and don’t feel that you need to do it alone. When you find healthy ways to deal with past hurts, you can receive the blessings God wants to give you today and move joyfully into your future.

God’s Promise

Among the nations, Judah and Israel had become symbols of what it means to be cursed. But no longer! Now I will rescue you and make you both a symbol and a source of blessing! Zechariah 8:13
