Humility

Humility

How can I be more humble, as Christ was humble?

God’s Response

In human form he obediently humbled himself even further by dying a criminal’s death on a cross. Philippians 2:8

Rejoice greatly, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble, riding on a donkey—even on a donkey’s colt. Zechariah 9:9

Anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. Matthew 18:4

Humility is honest recognition of your worth as God sees you. Pride elevates us above others, and often above God himself. To destroy your sense of self-worth is also unacceptable, for it denies the value God placed upon you when he created you in his image. Jesus died for all people, so every person is greatly loved by him and has great worth in his eyes. Your goal is to see yourself as God sees you.

God’s Promise

You rescue those who are humble, but you humiliate the proud. Psalm 18:27
