Forgiveness

Forgiveness

How does God’s forgiveness make a difference in my life?

God’s Response

If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:14-15

Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?”“No!” Jesus replied, “seventy times seven!” Matthew 18:21-22

Forgiveness is a pathway to freedom. When God forgives you, you are free from guilt and restored to fellowship with him. When you forgive someone who has wronged you, you are free from the bitterness and resentment that can settle in your heart. Receiving God’s forgiveness and forgiving others are at the core of what it means to be a Christian. In doing this, we follow the example of God, who extends to us the ultimate pardon—forgiveness of our sins.

God’s Challenge

You must make allowance for each other’s faults and forgive the person who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Colossians 3:13
