Are there expectations I shouldn’t have?

They say to themselves, “Nothing bad will ever happen to us! We will be free of trouble forever!” Psalm 10:6

When you dig a well, you may fall in. When you demolish an old wall, you could be bitten by a snake. When you work in a quarry, stones might fall and crush you! When you chop wood, there is danger with each stroke of your ax! Such are the risks of life. Ecclesiastes 10:8-9

Don’t expect life to be trouble free just because you are a Christian. One misconception about Christianity is that life will be a bed of roses just because God is on your side. In fact, the Bible tells us that we might face trouble and oppression because of what we believe. You are in the middle of a spiritual battle—expect to get wounded. But also be assured of ultimate victory and eternal peace. What more can you expect than that?
