Dysfunction
Dysfunction
Can I overcome the challenges that come with growing up in a dysfunctional family?
God’s Response
It was by faith that Rahab the prostitute did not die with all the others in her city who refused to obey God. For she had given a friendly welcome to the spies. Hebrews 11:31
Jephthah of Gilead was a great warrior. He was the son of Gilead, but his mother was a prostitute. Judges 11:1
Some of the heroic people of the Bible overcame huge dysfunction when they put themselves into God’s hands. Rahab the prostitute was spared because she saved the lives of two Israelite spies. Jephthah was a great warrior despite his upbringing. Don’t use your family history as an excuse to continue dysfunctional or sinful behavior. Begin a new legacy. God wants to turn your disadvantages into advantages. With God’s help, you can break the chain of sin handed down to you from long years of dysfunction.
God’s Promise
Because the Sovereign LORD helps me, I will not be dismayed. Therefore, I have set my face like a stone, determined to do his will. And I know that I will triumph. Isaiah 50:7
