How can the Bible—a book written so long ago—be relevant for me today?
God’s Response
The grass withers, and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 40:8
How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word and following its rules. . . . I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:9, 11
Your words are what sustain me. They bring me great joy and are my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, O LORD God Almighty. Jeremiah 15:16
The Bible has stood the test of time more than any other document in human history. Because the Bible is the Word of God, it is the only document that is “living,” relevant for all people in all places for all time. People change over time, but people’s basic needs for love, acceptance, purpose, and fulfillment remain the same. The Bible addresses all human needs. It is as contemporary as the heart of God and more powerful than your most urgent need. It will sustain you and bring you joy no matter what happens in life because God is literally speaking to you through it.
God’s Challenge
Even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice. Luke 11:28
