Work Cooperatively

It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. 1 Corinthians 3:7-8

Which department most influences your organization’s success? Sales? Marketing? Finance? Design? Production? Distribution? Administration? Information Technology?

Could any of them be eliminated? Are any of them indispensable?

Paul faced this issue with the early church. Some people thought Paul was the greatest apostle, while others followed Apollos. Allowing such divisions to continue would have been detrimental to the mission.

As a remedy, Paul reminded the church that the mission was bigger than their personal preferences. They had the same objective—serving Christ—and Paul brought this back into focus.

When you experience turf battles between departments, remind the combatants that they are all working toward the same goal.
