Use Fast Horses

The church board had prayerfully decided on a substantial goal for the fund-raising campaign. This incredible sum of money would require commitments from everyone in the congregation.

They erected a huge tent on Sunday morning and served breakfast to everyone. The pastor gave a compelling talk and told the people they would get a pledge card in Monday’s mail. The board hoped folks would fill out the pledge card while their interest was still high from the Sunday celebration.

Someone decided to save money by mailing the pledge cards bulk rate instead of first class, so they arrived on Friday instead of Monday. Folks had been working all week. The flame of Sunday’s meeting was extinguished, and the campaign fell short.

The king’s message was important enough to warrant top-priority attention.

When your work is “mission critical,” don’t skimp on resources. When fast horses are required, use them.
