On occasion, leadership duties can be overwhelming. I’m sure you’ve been there. You may be there right now.
Most people in leadership positions are good problem solvers. A typical reaction to overload is to push harder, but that’s not always the best course of action.
Sometimes it helps to step aside and enjoy some harp music for a few minutes.
What works for you? Is it a CD with classical music? What about 1960s rock and roll? Do you walk around the block to clear your head? Perhaps you call an old friend or walk to the bookshelf and look closely at pictures of your family on vacation last year.
King Saul was troubled for a variety of reasons, not the least of which was his disobedient nature. He was the most powerful man in Israel, yet he found comfort in something as simple as harp music played by a shepherd from Bethlehem.
It’s okay to draw a deep breath now and then.
