Stop telling lies. . . . If you are a thief, quit stealing. Ephesians 4:25, 28

Did Paul have twenty-first-century business practices in mind when he wrote these words?

You are stealing if you

• let someone think you’re giving them the best price when you know you would have gone lower, had they asked.
• use packaging that makes the product look bigger than it really is.
• buy one piece of software and use it on multiple computers.
• keep quiet upon realizing that a hotel or restaurant has undercharged you for something.
• continuously put off that annoying salesperson, telling them you’re still considering their offer, when you know for certain you’re not going to buy anything.
• pay people less than they’re worth because the job market is tight and they can’t afford to leave.

If you are serious about honoring God in your leadership, ask him to help you to “put on your new nature, created to be like God” (Ephesians 4:24).
