Seek Unity In Diversity

Seek Unity in Diversity

Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body. 1 Corinthians 12:14-15

My friend Glenn leads a large church choir that often performs with a full orchestra.

As he conducts 150 musician and singers, he has to focus on the big picture and the details at the same time.

As he leads, Glenn is able to hear the combined fullness of 150 voices and instruments blended as one.

At the same time, he is acutely aware of each person’s performance; he is constantly adjusting individual pitch, volume, tempo, and tone quality in order to produce a uniform sound.

Paul points out the value of individual strengths. Each part should do what it does best, and it’s the responsibility of the leader to help them all function as a single unit.

When you have the baton, make sure you’re paying attention to the big picture and the details at the same time.
