Ask God For Success

O Lord, please hear my prayer! Listen to the prayers of those of us who delight in honoring you. Please grant me success today by making the king favorable to me. Nehemiah 1:11

Let’s be crystal clear about something: Failure is not a fruit of the Spirit.

Why do so many leaders stop short of asking God for success? We pray that his will be done, but why do we assume that his will does not include granting us success in our endeavors?

Nehemiah had a plan that would restore the glory of Jerusalem and honor God. He presented his plan to the Lord and asked for success.

He didn’t say, “I’ll take whatever you give me.”

Nehemiah stepped before God’s throne and made his request: “Put it into [Artaxerxes’] heart to be kind to me” (Nehemiah 1:11).

Will your plans bring glory to God? Do you delight in honoring the Lord?

Have you asked him—specifically—for success?
