Respect Everyone Equally

Respect Everyone Equally

He gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. Matthew 5:45

Dr. Bob Brower is the president of Point Loma Nazarene University, where our daughter is a student. When Bob walks through a crowded room, he clearly demonstrates that he has respect for everyone he meets.

Bob can’t take more than five or six steps without someone tapping his arm and asking for a few minutes of his time. I’ve seen him chat with professors, parents, alumni donors, and students, all within a fifteen-minute walk through the dining commons. Each conversation is marked by Bob’s singular attention to the person he’s with. He shows equal regard for each person, regardless of who they are.

Jesus teaches that God doesn’t play favorites. We all benefit from his love, regardless of our status.

Take a moment to consider how you treat people. Do you reserve special respect for those who might be more important?

I want to be more like Bob Brower. I hope you do too.
