Does everyone on your team get along? Are the votes always unanimous? Do you brag about how your people hang out with each other on the weekends?

You need to rattle the box a bit.

Teams of people who play nicely in the same sandbox are great at maintaining status quo, but they aren’t very good at generating new ideas.

Jesus was about to turn the world upside down. For his team, he chose two men who were on opposite ends of the political and economic spectrums of their day.

Simon was a Jewish nationalist who hated everything about Rome and zealously desired to destroy it. Matthew was a Roman tax collector. These two men had lived their entire lives hating everything the other stood for. Can you imagine the dialogue between them?

Jesus either made a colossal mistake, or he understood the value of different ideas.
