Then God said, “Let the waters swarm with fish and other life.” Genesis 1:20
Well beyond the halfway point of creation, at the start of day five, the Master Designer went back to the very beginning—to the water—to teach us another lesson about his personality.
God is a maximizer. He takes something that already exists and adds a new twist.
This is not senseless window dressing—God makes things better. By adding swarms of fish and other life to the oceans, he changed the waters from being formless and empty into an incredible ecosystem capable of sustaining life in his new creation.
The water had been around since the beginning of creation (see Genesis 1:2). But on the fifth day, God went back to maximize the waters by adding a valuable new dimension.
Is there a “body of water” in your organization that could be maximized by a fresh approach or an infusion of life? The critical element is to make sure the new twist actually provides an added value and makes the original idea more beneficial for users.
