Prepare For Mission-critical Events
Prepare for Mission-Critical Events
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness. Matthew 4:1
Trade shows are a lot of work. As an exhibitor, our company begins to plan nearly a year in advance, and activity increases to a frenzy in the weeks right before showtime. I often arrive at a convention with a bad cold or fever because I am so run-down from all the preparations.
Every organization has mission-critical events—trade shows, annual sales, Easter services, donor banquets. As a leader, it’s your job to make sure your people have adequate time to prepare themselves—mentally and physically—for the rigors of these events.
Jesus was led into the wilderness to fast and pray in the days just before his ministry began. He resisted temptation during this time and set us the good example of taking time to focus our thoughts and energies before any mission-critical activity.
Resist the temptation to head into an important time with less than a full measure of rest.
