Pray For More Workers

Pray for More Workers

The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields. Luke 10:2

How many hours a week are you expected to work? Fifty hours? Sixty? Seventy?

Many organizations have reduced staff levels. Those who remain are expected to pick up excess work, while maintaining a commitment to growth. The work force is asked to do much more with far less—a practice I think Jesus would discourage.

Jesus acknowledged that there was more work than his team could handle. Instead of mandating better time-management skills or trading family time for overtime, he told them to pray for more help so the extra work could be accomplished.

People shouldn’t be asked to do more than they can physically, mentally, or emotionally handle. If the work exceeds your staffing ability, you need to reduce expectations to a level your people can handle.

If your goals are that important, hire enough people to get the job done.
