Practice Creative Solutions

All the bridesmaids got up and prepared their lamps. Then the five foolish ones asked the others, “Please give us some of your oil because our lamps are going out.” Matthew 25:7-8

This parable can motivate you to examine your organization’s ability to think creatively about Plan B solutions.

Ten young women were invited to a wedding. Five of them brought extra oil to keep their lamps burning in the event the bridegroom was delayed (and I thought that only happened in the movies).

The other five (Jesus calls them “foolish”) didn’t bring extra oil, and when the groom was delayed, their lamps went out.

Read the entire passage (Matthew 25:1-13) to your team and ask, How could the five foolish bridesmaids have handled this differently?

Look beyond the simple answer, which is that they should have brought enough oil.

There are other possible solutions. Asking your leadership team to brainstorm possible scenarios will get them thinking about Plan B ideas for your unique situation.

Practice your ability to find creative solutions. Have fun with this one.
