Negotiate New Contracts

Negotiate New Contracts

When God speaks of a “new” covenant, it means he has made the first one obsolete. It is now out of date and will soon disappear. Hebrews 8:13

Contracts are a good idea. They spell out terms and expectations so there are no surprises. I sign contracts with all my clients, especially the ones I regard as good friends, because their friendship is valuable.

When writing a contract, I try to address everything that might occur during the assignment, but at times, changes are so substantial that it makes sense to rip up the old agreement and start from scratch.

New contracts shouldn’t be entertained lightly. God’s “new covenant” cost him dearly, but he knew it was the only way. His old agreement with the Israelites had been broken so many times that it was barely recognizable.

Although he could have stood his ground and demanded they honor their commitment, he knew the only way to save the project was to issue a new contract.

Going back to contract negotiation may cost you, but the result will be worth it.
