If there were a contest for Worst Home Handyman, I would be a strong contender. Geoff, on the other hand, always knows how to do things right. When he comes to paint, there are twenty different brushes and tools in his box, and he chooses the one that is precisely suited to the job at hand.
He doesn’t place more value on one tool than another. He doesn’t ignore a particular tool when it is clearly the right one for a specific project. A key element in Geoff’s success is his ability to use each tool to its maximum potential.
Miriam was a woman. In the strictly patriarchal Jewish society, God chose a woman to lead the people because she was obviously best suited for the job.
One of your responsibilities as a leader is to maximize the skills of every team member, regardless of their age, gender, shape, size, or color. It’s easy to rationalize not doing this, so take a moment to seriously consider your practice in this area.
