Keep On Asking

Keep On Asking

Keep on asking . . . keep on seeking . . . keep on knocking. Matthew 7:7

Allow me to turn a well-known story around for the sake of a lesson.

God loves you and wants to give you good gifts. Yet, despite this desire of God’s, Jesus finds it necessary to encourage you to be persistent in your requests.

He tells you to persist in asking, seeking, and knocking.

If God, who wants to give us gifts, requires perseverance, how much more persistent should we be when we ask something of someone who cares less for us than God does?

As a leader, you are often in a position to ask people to follow your lead. It can be frustrating when they don’t respond to the first request. You seek their support, but it’s nowhere to be found.

You knock on their doors, but nobody’s home.

The lesson is clear—Jesus encourages us to persistently pursue our desires.

Don’t just sit around waiting for things to happen.
