Have A Plan Of Last Resort

Have a Plan of Last Resort

I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth. Genesis 6:7

In the paragraph that precedes Noah’s story, we see that things had gone terribly wrong with the world. When God surveyed the landscape, he saw that “everything . . . was consistently and totally evil” (Genesis 6:5).

Although the text doesn’t say so, I believe God had tried reasoning with the people. We know that he is always looking for people through whom he can bless the world. Instead of using his incredible powers of persuasion, God took irreversible action.

The flood must have been a plan of last resort.

As a leader, you should be prepared to take drastic measures if there is no other way to save the mission. Sometimes incremental patches just aren’t enough. In some situations, the problem lies too deep for anything but a flood.

Keep in mind that God used this tactic once in all of history. If you’re considering a flood for your organization, seek God’s personal advice in prayer. After all, he’s already been through it.
