Follow Your Heart

Choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? As for me and my family, we will serve the LORD. Joshua 24:15

In the opening credits of Donald Trump’s popular television program, The Apprentice, the screen flashes a quote from Trump—

“It’s not personal. It’s business.”

The point he’s making is that personal feelings shouldn’t have a place in the decisions you make regarding business or professional matters.

With respect to Trump for his apparent financial success, I argue that real success in one’s professional life comes only when you have invested your passion and your skill.

Joshua’s mission was to serve Yahweh, and he was passionate about it. He was committed to the vision that had drawn him into his leadership role. I think Trump would admit to having a passion about what he does as well.

Perhaps you’ve been criticized for being too passionate, for bringing too much of yourself into the boardroom.

Joshua followed his heart and stood confidently behind his feelings.
