Focus Your Attention
God is not a God of disorder but of peace. 1 Corinthians 14:33
Does this mean that God wants me to clean my desk?
I watched a news report recently about a home that had been overtaken by a massive swarm of honeybees. Images on the TV showed millions of bees crawling over each other in what appeared to be utter chaos.
An expert explained that the bees really did have a purpose. For an unknown reason, the colony’s queen bee had left her hive and was nesting in the attic of the home. All the other bees were there to support and provide for the queen.
What looked like disorder to the casual observer was actually quite intentional, by honeybee standards. Despite appearances to the contrary, they were internally focused on a critical purpose.
So, what about my desk?
I think God is less concerned about the outward appearance of disorder and more concerned about the focus of my attention. Throughout his book, God sets plans and follows them. He is proactive and strategic, not reactive.
Does your activity have a purpose?
