Expect The Unexpected

There once was a man named Job who lived in the land of Uz. He was blameless—a man of complete integrity. He feared God and stayed away from evil. Job 1:1

Everyone knows Job’s story. He’s the guy who lost everything and displayed such an enduring spirit that we describe persevering people as having “the patience of Job.”

Patience is a quality to which you should aspire, but let’s look at another key element in the story:

Job was blameless.

Job did nothing to cause the calamity that befell him. Job played by the rules. He was a generous and respectable community member, a loving husband, a good father, and a smart businessman.

Many circumstances are beyond our control. You can—and should—plan for various scenarios, but always remember that

Stuff Happens.

Take time to review your current strategies. Is there room for adjustment along the way? Or will things fall apart if they don’t go exactly according to plan?

Expect unexpected things to occur. Be flexible. Don’t be surprised by surprises.
