Examine Your Motives
Examine Your Motives
These people are grumblers and complainers, living only to satisfy their desires. They brag loudly about themselves, and they flatter others to get what they want. Jude 1:16
Warning!
To bring about change, it’s necessary to challenge the status quo. Doing so can get you branded as a grumbler or complainer.
How do you lead an organization to a different future without being seen as a gadfly who is never satisfied?
The answer lies with your motives. Before suggesting a change, examine your own intentions:
Am I suggesting this change because of something I personally don’t like?
Will this change move us closer to our mission objective?
Is there research to support my ideas, or am I relying on my own opinions?
Jude began his letter by saying that he wanted to write about the common goals shared by the believers. He also felt the need to warn them against people who could sidetrack their mission by manipulating others to get what they wanted.
Are you trying to move your organization forward? Are your motives above reproach?
