Don’t Stand On Your Rights

David had been wronged by a grouchy old man named Nabal, and he had the right to seek vengeance by killing him (things were different back then).

Nabal’s wife, Abigail, convinced David to change his mind by presenting a reasonable argument for allowing God to deal with her husband.

Abigail helped David see that standing up for his rights would leave Nabal’s blood on his hands forever.

David caught a glimpse of the potentially devastating results of his plan, and he didn’t like what he saw. He was thankful for the opportunity to change direction.

There are times when demanding your rights can cause more harm than good.
