Don’t Play Favorites

Remember, you both have the same Master in heaven, and he has no favorites. Ephesians 6:9

My computer’s dictionary defines double standard as “a principle or expectation that is applied unfairly to different groups.”

We seldom intend to play favorites. It just happens. For example,

• The policy manual prohibits staff from eating lunch at their desks, but busy executives do it when they have important calls that run through the lunch hour.
• Parents are encouraged to participate in their kids’ school activities, but department heads are questioned if they leave early to catch a Little League game.
• Men with families are paid more than working moms, because a woman’s wages are regarded as a family’s second income.
• We talk about valuing our employees, but we fail to defend them when our best customer is a bully and treats them poorly.

It’s all about mutual respect. God has no favorites and neither should you.
