Don’t Be Sidetracked

“Should we pull out the weeds?” they asked.“No,” he replied, “you’ll uproot the wheat if you do. Let both grow together until the harvest.” Matthew 13:28-30

I had just cleaned my windshield and was heading out on a long trip when a big bug splattered onto it. I pulled off and cleaned the windshield. Within minutes, another bug hit and I stopped again.

Clean—Drive—Splat—Stop.

This continued until it was time to turn around and head home. I never made it to my destination, but I had a clean windshield the entire trip.

This ridiculous story emphasizes what happens when we take our eyes off the objective and let unimportant things slow us down.

Jesus used a parable to teach the importance of staying focused on the mission.

A farmer planted wheat. His enemies came in the night and planted weeds. The farmer let them both grow, because pulling the weeds might damage the wheat.

Are you drawn from your mission by petty annoyances that should be left alone?

Sometimes your best strategy is doing nothing at all.
