Do The Right Thing

Do the Right Thing

Ruth replied, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live.” Ruth 1:16

The airport departure lounge was packed with vacation travelers, and it was well past the scheduled departure time. The Jetway had been damaged, and it would be hours before a repair crew could come to fix it.

That’s when an airline suit showed up and whispered to the gate agent, who smiled as she announced,

“Well folks, as you know, our Jetway is broken, so we will take you down a flight of stairs and load the plane through the rear door. It’s a bit unorthodox, but we want to get you on your way.”

There’s a difference between doing things right and doing the right thing.

Tradition required Ruth to go home and find a husband, but she did the right thing by staying with her dead husband’s mother.

Don’t let tradition interfere with doing the right thing.
