Bloom Where You’re Planted

Work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare. Jeremiah 29:7

Corporate life can be a roller coaster. These days, entire divisions are handed from one company to another with the scratch of a pen on paper. One day you’re working for ABC Widgets, and the next morning your parent company is XYZ Gizmos.

It can be hard to stay motivated, but that’s what God wants you to do.

Jeremiah wrote a letter from God to the exiled Israelites. They would be in Babylon for seventy years, and he encouraged them to bloom where they were planted.

Everything you have is a gift from God. He is in charge, and if he plants you in a place you’d rather not be, your first responsibility is to do whatever you are asked to do in a manner that glorifies him.

Is it okay to ask God for a different assignment? You bet. But remember Jeremiah’s words to the exiles: Plant gardens. Multiply. Do not dwindle away.
