Be Consistent
Be Consistent
You have done what you promised, for you are always true to your word. Nehemiah 9:8
When you have time, read the ninth chapter of Nehemiah. In this wonderful prayer, the Israelites recounted the many ways in which God had shown his faithfulness to them since the beginning of time.
Consistency is another of God’s leadership attributes we should emulate.
God’s methods are often unusual (the Red Sea, manna, Calvary), but his focus and mission always remain the same. As Nehemiah described him, “the great and mighty and awesome God . . . keeps his covenant of unfailing love” (Nehemiah 9:32).
The Israelites never questioned God’s response to their frequent and regular sin. They understood and even expected the punishment he handed out. Nor were they surprised when he forgave and healed them.
They had come to depend on his consistency.
Do your people know how you will respond in every situation? Do you stay on an even keel, or are people sometimes caught off guard by your reactions to circumstances?
Is your leadership style fair and balanced or arbitrary and volatile?
