Abram’s mission was to explore the territory God had promised to his descendants. He set out from his native country, fixed his sights on his destination, and celebrated his progress at every stop along the way by erecting an altar to Yahweh.

A friend of mine was project manager for a unit at Apple computers just before the first Macintosh computers were brought to market. He describes the pace as furious. There was a high stress level because failure wasn’t an option.

When they hit a major milestone late one night, a lot of work still remained to be done. But the manager handed out rubber-band guns and yelled, “Don’t fire ’til you see the whites of their eyes” as he led his group in a ten-minute rubber-band war.

Their renewed energy level carried the team happily through the next task.
