What Women Need To Know About Men
What Women Need to Know about Men
The man and his wife were both naked, but they felt no shame.
Genesis 2:25
As promised, women, this one is for you. Just as we pointed out some fundamentals that men need to keep in mind about their wives, we have a similar set of truths for you.
First: men, unlike women, often view making love as a primary way of connecting with their wives. In other words, their patterns of intimacy can stem from an inability to connect in other ways, like conversations and nonsexual touching. For this reason (as well as others) your husband’s physical drive may be more apparent than yours. If so, enjoy it as you allow yourselves to tap into your physical desires.
Men are geared more than women for immediate gratification. If he sees you getting ready for a party, he may not be satisfied with a long kiss and a few caresses. You may be thinking about being late or messing up your hair or lipstick, but he loves the excitement of the moment, even if it’s brief.
You have undoubtedly noticed that your husband is prone to act on visual cues. So be ready for the unexpected and relish his attraction toward you.
So there you have it, three fundamental facts about men that you need to keep in mind. And just like yesterday, we have a suggestion, this time, for your husband.
As the man married to this woman, help her see the relevance of these three fundamental facts to your relationship. Talk to her about some recent times in your relationship where one of these facts has been apparent to both of you. This will help her underscore how important these are to you as a man. No need to point out failures or mistakes here. The goal is to help her see the relevance of these truths within specific examples of your life. As you do so, you’ll both more fully enjoy God’s great gift of physical intimacy.
[There is a] delusion that sex is an activity when it is primarily a relationship; if the relationship is faulty, the activity cannot long be self-sustaining or truly satisfactory.
