Seeds Of Glory - The One Year Heaven on Earth Devotional
Seeds of Glory
Read: 1 Corinthians 15:42-48
It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. 1 Corinthians 15:44, NIV
IN WORD
An acorn embedded in the ground somehow becomes a mighty oak tree. An apple seed somehow produces a plenitude of apples. A sperm and an egg eventually result in a mature human being. Why? Because God has written a profound principle into His creation. Small elements with genetic coding can, with the right nurture and conditions, develop into something altogether greater and more meaningful.
That’s how it is with our natural bodies. In their fallen state, they are like seeds that fall on concrete and never become more than seeds. But filled with the DNA of God Himself—the divine nature He has shared with those who believe in and love Him—our flesh-and-blood bodies become something altogether different. Like seeds in the ground, we are raised up as flourishing spiritual beings with a glory we can hardly comprehend.
Think of the opportunities this spiritual dynamic points to. We can sow material wealth into God’s Kingdom and leverage it for eternal fruit. We can redeem fleeting time by investing it in everlasting pursuits. We can use our human, physical existence as a foreshadowing of an eternal Kingdom. The material becomes spiritual when we see the end of the story.
IN DEED
Learn to see your life as an investment. Refuse the common temptation to divide life into sacred and secular or material and spiritual. God is not so limited in His vision that He would create entire segments of His world to be meaningless. No, it’s all purposeful, all good, and all redeemable for greater purposes and lasting legacies. When we live as His children, everything we touch has the potential to be meaningful in His Kingdom. If you’re a Kingdom citizen, nothing in your life is truly mundane. Even your body itself—that passing vessel of clay—was given life by the breath of God and will spring up into a glorious resurrection. Let that picture fill your mind and heart with hope, anticipation, and joy. Invest everything in the now and forever Kingdom.
