Hearing His Voice #327

The LORD merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born.

Psalm 33:6

We long to be more than products of our past or victims of our circumstances. Society offers us little hope of that; it tends to define us by our experiences and our environment. We live at the mercy of whatever happens to us, as if “fate” or “chance” were inescapable. We can choose how to respond, we’re told, but we can’t choose what life offers us. We have to play the hand we’re dealt.

But that isn’t what Scripture tells us, is it? We can affect the outcomes of our situations through prayer, making wise choices, and following God’s leading. And even in our strictest limitations, we have the ear of a God who can turn any circumstance in a moment. We are never helpless victims of life’s circumstances; rather, we have been called to shape them. We are sons and daughters of the King, and He has given us spiritual authority in heavenly places to influence the kingdoms of earth. The question isn’t whether we can deal with what life hands us; it’s how God is going to affect the world through our role as His children.

Ask God to speak into your life—words of change, words of fulfillment, words of destiny. Ask for His voice to heal your wounds, shift your circumstances, and shape your future. Most of all, ask Him to raise up people and churches, and even entire societies, that will embody His Kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven. Regardless of whatever issues are lingering from your past, whatever situations you’re stuck in, and whatever obstacles stand in the way of your calling, all you need is the sound of God’s voice. He merely speaks, and an entire universe is created by the sound. He can certainly alter anything in your life with just a word.

Lord, You are a world changer and have called me to join You in Your work. Speak words of power into my life, my family, my city, my country, my world. Create Your Kingdom everywhere on earth.
