Hearing His Voice #286

Hearing His Voice #286

Is anything too hard for the LORD?

Genesis 18:14

“Lord, I don’t know how to deal with this. Please give me an idea.” I’ve prayed that prayer many times—about a problem I couldn’t solve, about writer’s block, about anything that needed a creative approach—and He always seems to answer. It isn’t an uncommon request for most believers, and nearly all of us could probably point to times when it was answered. And why wouldn’t it be? God is the God of answers. No problem exists for which He does not already have a solution. The idea may not come as a concrete message from a divine voice, but when we suddenly have a spark of creativity after praying that prayer, it’s from Him. We didn’t just suddenly become brilliant. He inspired us.

Think about the implications. In a moment, God could solve any debt crisis or policy issue faced by a government. He could heal any family dysfunction or resolve any conflict. He could overcome the social problems of our cities and our schools. He has all the answers. Perhaps He is simply waiting for His people to ask Him for guidance and direction.

What would happen if every Christian educator, every Christian politician, every Christian voice in media—in other words, every believer in every arena of society—began asking God for divine solutions to human problems? What creativity would fill the body of Christ? What ideas would suddenly come to mind in the middle of the night or to a wandering mind sitting in traffic? Especially if the recipients of divine ideas would give God credit rather than taking the credit for themselves—what blessings would God give us to offer the world? There is no reason not to ask. God’s people should be the most creative, ingenious people on the planet—simply because we know the God of all solutions. When we stop struggling and start asking, God will very often give us answers.

Lord, I need Your creativity, Your answers, Your ingenuity. Inspire me with Your brilliance, and like Joseph and Daniel, I will gladly tell people of the God who reveals mysteries.
