Experiencing God's Presence #48
Experiencing God's Presence #48
How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!
Psalm 139:17-18
God is in every detail of the universe—every atom of every planet and every star, every quark and lepton within every atom, even every particle no one has discovered yet. Even though He is infinitely enormous, not a single piece of information escapes His notice. He created it all and is involved in every minor movement, every nuance, every shift and shudder within His creation. And His awareness is personal; He is involved in every aspect of you—every cell of your body, every atom within every cell, every subatomic particle within every atom. He knows and cares about everything.
That this God committed to be our Immanuel, “God with us,” tells us a lot about His heart. His desire is to be present within every corner of our lives. And though that means He is near to us, that He holds our hand and walks with us through each day like a human being would, it’s more than that. He is in us, closer than we can imagine. He is aware of every breath, every heartbeat, every impulse we have. He is in the tiniest details of every aspect of our existence.
Continue to ask God to help you be aware of His Presence every moment of every day. This isn’t a onetime request. Be relentless in it. Try to think about His nearness as often as you can. Whenever you feel alone, know that He is in the room with you and that He loves you deeply. Just as He knows your every breath and heartbeat, He wants you to feel His breath and His heartbeat too.
God of majesty and mystery, reveal Yourself to me more deeply. Let me feel Your closeness—Your every breath and heartbeat. Remind me constantly that You are here.
