Experiencing God's Presence #348
Experiencing God's Presence #348
You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies.
Psalm 23:5
“You may have noticed that I sometimes let enemies ride over your head. This is nothing new; I did it with Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Hannah, David, the prophets, and many others. I allow you to experience anguish and humiliation under those who think they have the upper hand, who may even taunt you and gloat. I do that for many reasons, three that you need to know: to expose the arrogance of those who flaunt My ways; to teach you humility and submission, even in injustice; and to give you a point of fellowship with My Son, who suffered from His enemies. There are times when you will have to see your enemies succeed.
“But you’ll notice that these seasons of humility and seeming defeat are always temporary. Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Hannah, David, the prophets, and all of My people end up victorious. I do prepare a feast for you in the presence of your enemies—eventually. They will have to answer to Me, and they will regret how they have treated you. Whether in this age or the age to come, you will be vindicated. I will defend you. I will never let you be put to shame. Though you suffer for a time, it is always only that—for a time. No one who trusts Me and depends on Me will be disappointed in the end.
“Be patient. Don’t expect always to be visibly victorious at every moment. All who desire to live a godly life will suffer some sort of persecution. In this world, you will have trials. But I have overcome the world. And because My life is in you, you are an overcomer. You will enjoy a feast in the Presence of your enemies, and they will know you are Mine.”
Father, please defend me. Please lift me up over those who oppose me. Give me humility to be patient and patience to endure until the time of the victory feast.
