Experiencing God's Presence #299

Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the entire land of Egypt.”

Genesis 41:41

Not only did Joseph represent the Presence of God in his workplace, he eventually represented God at the highest levels of government. Like Daniel, Esther, and others strategically placed in kings’ courts, Joseph was able to access God’s revelation for Egypt’s needs. Pharaoh had a dream and no means of interpreting it. Joseph asked God, received an interpretation, saved a Gentile nation from famine, and prepared the way for God’s people to settle there. And he did it from a prison cell. He became an apt picture for what any of us can do in our world.

God can use any available, faithful person to impact the highest levels of society. Most Christians don’t expect Him to do that—we don’t normally ask for His solutions to national or global problems—but perhaps that’s the problem. We assume that unless we sit in an executive boardroom or a political office, or aren’t an absurdly talented trendsetter, we aren’t influencers of our culture. We forget that Joseph, Daniel, Esther, and Nehemiah were put in strategic positions by extremely unlikely means. Strategy is God’s business; a response of faith and expectation is ours.

If you’ve never asked God for divine solutions to the problems of your community, city, nation, or world, try it. Open your ears to revelation from Him. One of the most effective ways to represent His Presence is to receive and implement His wisdom. The world is hungry for solutions, and being able to apply wisdom from above gives you favor and glorifies Him. Learning to hear may be a process, but the benefits to you, to society, and to the Kingdom are ultimately rewarding. When God’s people access God’s answers, it impacts the world.

Lord, give me divine solutions to human problems. Put me in a position through divine appointments to share them with whoever needs to hear them. Help me bring glory to You by being a blessing to others.
