What Time Is It?

I do not spend time with liars or go along with hypocrites. I hate the gatherings of those who do evil, and I refuse to join in with the wicked. Psalm 26:4-5

We spend six years eating, one year searching for our belongings, eight months opening junk mail, and four years doing housework!^a (Only four years?) In total, our personal care and travel (mostly back and forth to work) take up half of our lives!^b

So what do we do with the rest of our time? I know what I don’t want to do!

• Life is too short to carry bitterness. “I can see that you are full of bitterness and held captive by sin” (Acts 8:23).
• Life is too short for revenge. “Dear friends, never avenge yourselves. Leave that to God. For it is written, ‘I will take vengeance; I will repay those who deserve it,’ says the Lord” (Romans 12:19).
• Life is too short for needless arguments. “Again I say, don’t get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights” (2 Timothy 2:23).
• Life is too short for sin. “These evil desires lead to evil actions, and evil actions lead to death” (James 1:15).

Make a list of how you will not spend your time, and you might find you gain some time.
