Put Power In The Prayer
Put Power in the Prayer
Read Psalm 69:13-15
I keep right on praying to you, Lord, hoping this is the time you will show me favor. In your unfailing love, O God, answer my prayer with your sure salvation. Psalm 69:13
Isaiah 55:11 explains that God’s Word has a promise: “It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”
Because of this promise, when I pray, I use God’s Word because that’s where the power is. For example, here is one prayer I pray over my sons’ lives that is simply verses strung together:
Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones.a My son, if sinners entice you, do not give in to them.b May you be as Daniel, who so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.c My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.d Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.e Flee from sexual immorality. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?f Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?g Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.h
Look up some verses using a few key words in a concordance or on the computer. String them together, and personalize a powerful prayer for someone you love today.
