On A Mission

And I, the Son of Man, have come to seek and save those like him who are lost. Luke 19:10

We, Bill and Pam Farrel, have a desire to fulfill the great commission through using our skills in professional ministry, with a focus of using the communication gifts God has given us. We are committed to personal discipleship as a lifestyle. We want our home to be an oasis where those who enter can see Christ at work in our marriage and family and where they can find hope. We, the Farrels, are committed to fun and friendships. We value people more than things. We prefer memories over material goods. We are committed to raise our children in such a way that they have the opportunity to know the benefits of personally knowing Jesus and walking with Him. We are committed to helping them discover their talents and equipping them to help fulfill the Great Commission and to have fun and a fulfilling life while doing so.

This mission statement serves as a grid in our decision making.

Dr. Archibald Hart says, “We have to be firm with those who would clutter up our lives with trivia. We must be clear about our own priorities so we can make good decisions about what we will and will not do.”^a

To start writing a mission statement, list the four to six core values that are most important to you. Look at our mission statement again. Notice some priorities? Fun, relationships, and the great commission are some of the obvious ones.

Lillian Dickenson said, “Life is a coin. You can spend it anyway you wish, but you can spend it only once.”^b

A mission statement narrows your scope and gives permission for your passion and purpose.
