Prayer 2

Prayer 2

So we have continued praying for you ever since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you a complete understanding of what he wants to do in your lives, and we ask him to make you wise with spiritual wisdom.

Colossians 1:9

Mary, one of my friends from church, hosted a prayer time one fall for moms whose children had gone off to college. We enjoyed a wonderful time of praying together for the needs of our children. What made it particularly special was that Mary suggested we use Scripture to pray back to God some of the specific ways he wants us all to grow to be more like him.

I have found this to be helpful, not only in my prayers for my children, but also in prayers for my husband, myself, and my friends and extended family. Below I’ve listed several verses we can pray on behalf of our children. As you spend time in God’s Word, I’m sure you will find many more prayer verses. But these are good for a start.

I pray that your love for each other will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in your knowledge and understanding. (Philippians 1:9)

And now I entrust you to God and the word of his grace—his message that is able to build you up and give you an inheritance with all those he has set apart for himself. (Acts 20:32)

God of the Bible,

Thank you for leaving us your Word of Truth. Thank you that your words add power to our prayer. Amen.
