Seeking Wisdom
Seeking Wisdom
Read Proverbs 18
Intelligent people are always ready to learn. Their ears are open for knowledge.
Proverbs 18:15
There’s a classic story of a powerful king who was building a mighty new capital for his empire. At the culmination of the construction, he summoned all the wise men of his kingdom and asked them to inscribe a sign that would hang over his castle as an eternal testament to his accomplishment. So, the wise men collaborated and debated for days. When all their work was done, they unveiled their bit of eternal wisdom. Its message: “This Too Shall Pass.”
Change is a constant in our lives. Every day brings new challenges and new blessings, and we are fools if we try to live in the past. Churches stagnate under lifeless traditions. People stagnate under empty rules. God created us to be creative, just as he is. The truth of God’s Word often comes to us as a new idea; until a certain moment, we were not ready to hear it. If we remain open to the Scriptures, we will discover that they always have a new lesson to teach us.
A WORD FOR TODAY
Practice wise curiosity.
Today, Lord, help me to be open to new things. Challenge the parts of my life that have lain dormant for too long, and bring new life to me.
