Matters Of The Heart

Read Proverbs 15

Even Death and Destruction hold no secrets from the LORD. How much more does he know the human heart!

Proverbs 15:11

We humans have a knack for forgetting the true knowledge of God. Just look at Adam after he sinned. He thought he could hide from God! Like Adam, we often hide what we truly feel in our hearts. Perhaps we think we are too evil, or that we’ve let God down. In the midst of our trials, we hide from God. We forget that God knows us down to our deepest motives!

This thought can be very frightening. It can also be extremely comforting. God knows us as we are right now—and he wants us as we are right now. So unlike any other relationship, we can let down our guard with God.

We can forget about trying to conquer that one temptation before coming to God. We can forget about dressing up and putting on a good face. God knows what’s in our hearts, and nothing we feel is too terrible for him to handle.

A WORD FOR TODAY

God knows you.

Lord, give me the courage to come to you honestly, so that I may be healed.
