God’s Business - The One Year Daily Wisdom

God’s Business

Read Proverbs 16

Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.

Proverbs 16:3

If we are serious about our work, we probably have specific vocational goals already laid out. Perhaps we want to expand our industry, or advance to a certain position by a particular date. It’s easy to get into a mode where we rarely think about work and God simultaneously. Anyway, we might think, what business does God have in my business?

Note the proverb’s progression: Our plans will succeed after we commit our work to the Lord. Committing our work to God does not imply that we can’t make a profit. It means that God wants to be Lord over every part of our lives, including our daily work. It also means that God desires to be pleased with the way we do our work because we are doing it for him.

There’s no task too mundane or ordinary for God. He will bless us if we seek his guidance in our work. His power does not stop when we begin our workday.

A WORD FOR TODAY

God is willing to supervise.

Lord, help me to have balance in my daily life as I work my hardest yet trust you for success.
