Living Water
Read Proverbs 13
The instruction of the wise is like a life-giving fountain; those who accept it avoid the snares of death.
Proverbs 13:14
Just like the full-body rush we feel when we dive into a swimming pool on an August afternoon, getting the right instruction in the time of need can’t be beat. But not just any kind of instruction will bring us relief.
Unfortunately, soliciting instruction from the wrong source is like diving into the deep end of failure. This proverb encourages us to seek the counsel of the wise. Think of it as creating an advisory board for our lives. Imagine eight empty chairs around a large conference table, with Christ seated at the head. These chairs represent where our most trusted advisors reside in our minds. One chair represents someone we would turn to in financial areas, another chair is for our spiritual advisor, another seats the one called upon for family concerns, and so on. In times of need, the benefit of their resources and experience may be only a phone call away.
A WORD FOR TODAY
Wise instruction is a cool drink to the thirsty.
Today, Lord, I am thankful for the times I have received godly advice from good people. Bless them today for their faithful work.
