Justice Assured

Justice Assured

Read Proverbs 21

Justice is a joy to the godly, but it terrifies evildoers.

Proverbs 21:15

Justice is a two-sided proposition. One side represents the joy we experience when we see a wrong righted. An abuser is arrested. A criminal is caught. If we are on the proper side of justice, fear is unnecessary. We can relax and rejoice when justice is administered in a situation. In contrast, those who receive its penalty experience another side of justice altogether. Guilty participants ponder life in the penitentiary as punishment for their crime. The penalty that accompanies justice angers an unrepentant delinquent. Such indignant offenders don’t want justice to be rendered in their case.

Ultimately, justice is a joyous experience for believers because of the certainty of heaven’s reward. Likewise, evildoers find nothing to celebrate. Final justice will rest upon them. The Bible warns us to be on the proper side of justice—both in an earthly and eternal sense. We can then live without fear and with great joy, celebrating God’s justice on earth and in heaven.

A WORD FOR TODAY

Justice sounds good until our evil is exposed.

Today, Lord, may I stand for what is right in all situations and rejoice.
